US President Joe Biden today justified his expansion of the wall on the border with Mexico, claiming he had “no choice” but to use the funds approved to build new sections of the wall in Texas to limit migration flows in the region.

“I was told I had no choice,” Biden told reporters at the White House.

The US president explained that once Congress has passed legislation to build something, whether it’s an aircraft carrier or a wall, he can’t say he doesn’t like it and won’t pay for it.

Referring to a possible meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping next month in San Francisco, he said it is a possibility but nothing concrete is planned at this time.

Many American media outlets write that Biden will meet with Xi at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum to be held in mid-November in California.

In recent months, Beijing and Washington have resumed dialogue, with back-to-back visits by high-ranking US officials to China. But bilateral relations remain strained, with trade disputes and the Taiwan issue the thorniest differences between them.
