In addition, the EU is offering EUR 1 million worth of in-kind assistance from its own humanitarian aid stocks to Dubai through the European Humanitarian Action Capacity.
Following the deadly earthquake in Western Afghanistan at the weekend, the EU will provide a first emergency humanitarian aid of €3.5 million to address the most urgent needs of the affected population.
Of this amount, €2.5 million will go to humanitarian partners who are already operating on the ground offering aid.
In addition, the EU is offering EUR 1 million worth of in-kind assistance from its own humanitarian aid stocks to Dubai through the European Humanitarian Action Capacity.
Shelter items, winter tents, personal hygiene items and other supplies are available to our humanitarian partners, depending on their needs on the ground, and are ready to be delivered via a new EU humanitarian airlift flight.
So far, 31 flights have already been flown under this airlift, the last of which arrived in Afghanistan on October 7.
This new aid is added to the 89 million euros of humanitarian aid already allocated in 2023 to humanitarian organizations in the country. EU humanitarian aid in Afghanistan is channeled only through our humanitarian partners on the ground.
