Thousands of Jordanian citizens, according to other reports tens of thousands, descended on the Jordanian capital on Friday, Aman, chanting slogans in favor of Hamas, and its armed wing, of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades. “They Said Hamas Is A Terrorist Organization – All Jordan Is Hamas” shouted Jordanians according to testimonies..

Jordan is considered as one of the now “moderate” and peaceful Arab countries, without religious fanaticism.

Responding to the call of the Muslim Brotherhood, around 10,000 protesters gathered in the Shuaima area, about 50 kilometers west of Amman, near the border with the occupied West Bank. On the placards they were holding were written slogans such as “Jerusalem is the symbol of victory”, “Congratulations on the victory of the resistance” and “Gaza resistance led to victory”. They chanted slogans such as “Death to Israel” and “Let’s trade the olive branch for the rifle.”

Another demonstration, about 3,000 young people, took place in the Karameh region, also near the West Bank border. The crowd burned the Israeli flagshouting that they will “sacrifice themselves for (the) Al-Aqsa Mosque” and denounced the peace agreement that Jordan signed with Israel in 1994.

Karamech has a symbolic meaning, since in this community in March 1968, a few months after the defeat of the Arabs in June 1967, the first major conflict between the Palestinian fighters of Fatah and the Israeli army took place.

Footage on the internet shows protesters in Jordan marching towards the border with Israel on Friday, where there were incidents with the country’s authorities. The Jordanians responded to Palestinian calls for global solidarity after days of heavy Israeli shelling of the Gaza Strip.

Demonstrators shared videos on social media of Jordanian soldiers using tear gas to disperse demonstrations near Jordan’s border with the West Bank.

Blinken – Abdallah meeting

King Abdullah II of Jordan warned today against “of any attempt to displace the Palestinians by force or cause any displacement of them”.

Abdullah II, who met today with the American Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, assessed that “the crisis should not spread to neighboring countries and worsen the refugee issue”, hours after Israel, which is at war with the Palestinian Hamas, asked residents of the northern part of the Gaza Strip to move to the south.

It is noted that many Jordanians are Palestinian refugees or have Palestinian roots – including Queen Rania. In her Instagram story, she wrote “It’s not self-defense if you’re an occupying power…” before reposting stories depicting what’s happening in Gaza.
