The Media Day of the Olympiakos women’s basketball team took place

Ready to achieve its goals this season is its women’s basketball team Olympiakou.

On Friday (13/10) it was held in room 5 CHEF the Media Day and the official photo shoot of the team, with the coach, Thanos Niklas and the gymnasts to give the signal ahead of the coming season.

Thanos Niklas: “We are at a stage where we have started the official games, we have finished the main stage of our preparation for this season. Without any complaints from the girls, we had a lot of injuries that didn’t allow us to work as we wanted. Minor injuries, but we are not at the level we want, like all teams, none are at the level they want, it is still early. The year is a marathon that will end in May, day by day we will be more and more in shape. We work every day, we give 100% and that is the most important thing in the team we have built. We do not single out any match, any tournament, we want to have a winning mentality in Greece and Europe, we want stability in all games. That’s why the roster has been formed so that we get 100% from each athlete, so that each one can help at any time. We responded well in the first European game, we had a positive presence based on the data so far. A very important victory. The element that will dominate this year’s team is what I say every day in training: Let’s all be on the same page. Certainly, we will need time to perform in basketball what we want. All the girls are extremely talented, I love that they are all hungry, but we all need to work on the same page to achieve the goals we have set».

Angeliki Nikolopoulou: “It is, without a doubt, a great honor to be the captain of Olympiakos. I think, the feeling is indescribable. Something very beautiful for me. The choice of the president and the coaching staff to be captain makes me feel proud. You saw the first sample for this year’s team in Turkey, but we all have to work even harder. Our preparation was not easy at all, because we had many injuries up to a week before we started the official games. We weren’t able to come together as a team much, so the samples in Turkey were very positive, at least for me. Work, work, work, to find our footing, we are a new team and we want to play good basketball. New and experienced players joined the team, all very motivated, something very positive. We have pluralism in attack, we need to improve our defense so that no one can beat us. We want the best results, in Greece and Europe».

Ioanna Diela: “We do not forget that we are a new team, while our preparation started a bit wrong, due to the injuries we had. With every game, we get better, we try to reach the level we want. Our improvement is noticeable game by game. In Turkey the team showed a very good face, but we have aspirations for even more! We don’t rest, we move forward, we strive for the best. Through our defense and our aggression, we will succeed, we want a fast game, we want speed. We go hard to achieve everything we want».

Amanda Kanji: “I am very excited to live here, to play for this huge club, Olympiakos, which is known everywhere. We are starting to find our roles as a team, our footing, we are trying game by game to connect. It’s going to be a beautiful year. Personally, I want to give the maximum of my energy and mood, to give everything I can. I want to work hard, to help and the goal of our whole team is to win. Wins everywhere! We want the people with us, we want their support, because the season will not be easy. Let’s go all together».

Eugenia Kollatou: “We work a lot. We were unlucky at the start of the preparation, we had a lot of absences, but our image in the official matches is very good. And it will be even better in the future! This team has a great future. We’re going to play targeted basketball, meaningful, we’re going to have specific roles, we’re going to play basketball that people on the court will enjoy. That’s what we want, we want to win. We also showed it in Turkey. As long as we are healthy, we will be able to do nice things on the floor and bring the results we need».

Renia Karlafti: “Olympiacos is a huge team, working and operating in professional standards. I like the way we work, the way they treat us as a team in all parts, on and off the field. In Turkey we had a nice experience, we did very well and gave the world a sample of what we will present. We will have a very good face, race by race. I really believe in this team!
