The driver who dragged a man with his vehicle, who had attacked his ex-wife with a knife in London, has been released without any prosecution against him, the metropolitan police announced today.
After studying the law on the legal defense and defense of others, the researchers decided to consider the young man a “key witness” rather than a suspect.
The 26-year-old Chechen was initially arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after dragging 41-year-old Leon McCaskre into his car while stabbing his ex-wife Jasmine Tskaifi, 43, on Jan. 24 in the Lynn neighborhood ). The perpetrator and the victim left their last breath on the spot.
Passers-by tried in vain to stop this attack, until the intervention of the young man.
Driver’s lawyer, Mohamed Akunji, posted a statement to his client on Twitter, thanking those who supported him.
He said he was “grateful” that the police had “taken this logical step” and expressed his “gratitude” to the British people who “supported him so much in this period, the most stressful and painful” of his life. More than 75,000 people took part in an online petition in support of the 26-year-old.
“I hope that with my actions a message was sent to society: if you see something bad happening, it is your duty to stop it.”
