IDF: ‘We Killed Six Hamas Leaders’ – Names Two Hamas Commanders Allegedly Involved in Oct. 7 Massacre
The top security office will meet at 8 p.m at the military headquarters in Tel Aviv, the prime minister’s office announced on Monday Benjamin Netanyahu.
The convening of the top security office comes as Israel prepares to launch the major ground offensive in Gaza after the Hamas terror attack in Israel last week that killed more than 1,300 people, most of them Israeli citizens.
THE Israeli army announced today Monday that so far they have been killed six senior Hamas figures in his attacks in the Gaza Strip.
Among those killed are its members political as well as the military wing of the Palestinian Islamist movement that rules Gaza, a spokesman for the Israeli Defense Forces clarified.
The statement names two Hamas commanders who were allegedly involved in the massacre in southern Israel on October 7. In addition, a commander responsible for security in the southern part of the Gaza Strip was killed, it added.
Two of these three Palestinian Islamist movement officials were killed over the weekend.
The Israeli military statement also named two senior Hamas officials who were reportedly killed last week, Hamas Finance Minister Jawad Abu Samala and Zakaria Abu Maamar, who was allegedly in charge of international relations.
Israel accuses Samala of managed resources for Hamas fighters and that he led Hamas operations against Israel.
In addition, the head of air traffic control in Gaza City was killed.
The target of Israel’s airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, in retaliation for the worst massacre of civilians in its history, is to eliminate the leadership of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
However, a significant part of the Hamas leadership does not live in the Gaza Strip, but abroad. For example, the political leader of Hamas Ismail Haniya lives in Qatar.
Netanyahu and Hamas deny ceasefire
It has not yet been agreed ceasefire in southern Gaza, the Israeli prime minister said in the meantime after earlier reports by the Reuters agency. The truce will coincide with the alleged opening of the Rafa passagewhich connects the Palestinian enclave with Egypt, said two Egyptian sources cited by the agency.
“There is currently no ceasefire for humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and the removal of foreign nationals,” cites a brief statement from Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.
The two Egyptian sources previously told Reuters that a ceasefire had been agreed as of 9am. According to Egyptian sources, the truce had been agreed upon the USA, Egypt and Israel.
Hamas also denies it
Izal el Reshiq, a Hamas official, also stated (to Reuters) that the reports are not true which will open the Rafah crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, and added that no temporary truce was declared.
Hamas announced that it did not has yet to receive confirmation from Egypt regarding the possible opening of the Rafa border crossing.
