The 13-year-old waited for his mother to fall asleep before stabbing her several times in the neck
The news is shocking that a 13-year-old stabbed to death his mother who was sleeping next to his newborn sister in their home in Florida, USA.
As the New York Post reports, the police proceeded to arrest 13-year-old Derek Rosa for the murder of the 39-year-old mother.
The minor is accused under the provisions on minors for the murder of his mother Irina Garcia. His identity was released because he is charged with second-degree murder.
“I just killed my mother”
The shocking crime came to light at 11.30pm last Thursday when the 13-year-old himself called the police and said “I just killed my mother”.
Police officers who arrived at the apartment where the family lives found Garcia dead in the bedroom a few inches away from a crib in which her 14-day-old daughter was lying, who was unharmed.
According to the police, the 13-year-old waited for his mother to fall asleep before stabbing her several times in the neck.
According to the New York Post, Rosa was polite to the officers. The 13-year-old, who was an excellent student at his school, was in the apartment on the fateful night with his newborn sister and their mother as his stepfather was in Georgia.
Rosa has no past history of psychological problems and reportedly got along well with his adoptive father.
The police officers handling the case have not released information about the 13-year-old’s motive, however they are “dusting off” his social media
