Al-Ahli-Arabi hospital and a school in Gaza were hit in the last hours during Israeli airstrikes, resulting in hundreds of people losing their lives.

In particular, an Israeli airstrike earlier hit the Al-Ahli-Arabi hospital in the center of Gaza City, according to the Palestinian authorities, resulting in the death and injury of hundreds of people. According to initial estimates about 500 people were killed as reported by the Ministry of Health.

Images from the hospital, which have been shared on social media platforms, show dismembered bodies amid the rubble and frantic efforts to locate survivors. Particularly hard are the videos that come to the public.

Many of the injured appear to be women and children, reports Al Jazeera, as it points out that there was no earlier warning. The hospital housed families amid Israel’s ongoing shelling of Gaza.

“A new war crime was committed at Al-Ahli Arabi Hospital in the center of Gaza City, resulting in dozens of martyrs and wounded coming to Al-Shifa Medical Complex due to the shelling. It should be noted that the hospital accommodated hundreds of patients, injured and forcibly displaced from their homes due to the airstrikes.” the Palestinian government says in its statement.

“Although we have witnessed tragedies in previous wars, what happened today amounts to genocide,” said the spokesman for the Palestinian Civil Protection AgencyMahmoud Basal.

As “genocide” characterizes from its side and Hamas the attack on the hospital according to the statement it issued.

“The massacre at Al-Ahli Hospital in the heart of the Gaza Strip is a genocide. Enough silence about the aggression and recklessness of the occupying forces,” Hamas said in a statement, adding that “the hospital housed hundreds of sick and wounded and people forcibly displaced from their homes” as a result of the bombings.

“Hundreds of victims are still under the ruins,” he underlines.

The president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbasdeclared three days of mourning after the deadly airstrike on the hospital, state media reported.

In the target and school

The same time, at least six people were killed and dozens more injured when a school was hit during airstrikes in the al-Maghazi refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, according to the United Nations.

Dozens more were injured and the number is believed to rise, according to a statement by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

“This is outrageous and once again shows a blatant disregard for civilian lives,” the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said in a statement.

“Nowhere is safe in Gaza anymore, not even the UNRWA facilities,” he adds.

UNRWA says the strike occurred during Israeli shelling of the Gaza Strip.

He adds: “At least 4,000 people have taken refuge in this UNRWA school-turned-shelter. They had and have nowhere else to go.”
