Russia to deliver 27 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza civilians via Egyptwhich borders the Palestinian enclave which is under siege after the Hamas attack on Israel, as the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations announced today.

“A special aircraft departed from Ramenskoye Airport, near Moscow, bound for Al Ares Airport in Egypt. Russian humanitarian aid will be handed over to representatives of the Egyptian Red Crescent to be sent to the Gaza Strip,” Deputy Minister Ilya Denisov said in the statement, without specifying when the aircraft departed.

“The population will receive flour, sugar, rice and pasta,” he added.

The presidents of the US and Egypt, Joe Biden and Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, announced yesterday, Wednesday, that international aid will soon be able to enter Gaza, which is at risk of sinking into a humanitarian disaster, according to the World Health Organization.

Biden, who visited Tel Aviv yesterday, said Sisi had agreed that Egypt would “allow up to 20 trucks to pass” through the Rafah crossing, the only one not controlled by Israel.

However, this aid will not be able to enter the Palestinian enclave before Friday due to work being done to restore roads damaged by Israeli bombardment.
