The emir of Qatar spoke of a dangerous escalation of the war in Israel that threatens global security
The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, called the international community ndon’t give Israel ‘unlimited license to kill’ Palestinians in the war against Hamas, speaking of a dangerous escalation that threatens global security.
“We say enough. Israel should not have an unlimited green light and unlimited license to kill.” al-Thani stressed in his annual speech at the opening of Qatar’s Shura Council meeting, in his first public statements since the country launched the latest mediation effort between Israel and Hamas.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced yesterday Monday that more than 5,000 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since October 7 when Israeli military strikes began in response to a Hamas attack in southern Israel that killed more than 1,400 people.
Qatar has since held dialogue with both sides, thanks to which Hamas has released four of the more than 200 hostages it is holding in Gaza.
“We ask for a serious regional and international attitude towards this dangerous escalation that we are observing, which threatens the security of the region and the world”the emir underlined.
“We do not accept the existence of double standards and the view that the lives of Palestinian children do not count, as if they do not have faces or names”he added.
