Canada: Protesters against forced vaccination will remain on the streets for as long as needed

Truck drivers, who have blocked its center Ottawa for six days now, they have said they have no intention of leaving the capital Canadauntil the government withdraws the measure of compulsory vaccination against coronavirus.

Despite residents’ complaints about noise, pollution and aggressive behavior from a portion of drivers, Ottawa police has not dispersed the protest, citing the risk of escalation.

The mobilization began as an action to force the liberal government of Prime Minister Justin Trinto to withdraw the vaccination order for truck drivers crossing the border. It has since turned into an anti-Trinto movement.

“We understand your outrage, but the responsibility for your suffering is clearly on the shoulders of politicians,” Chris Barber, the leader of the protesters, said in a statement to Ottawa residents.

“We are here and we are not going anywhere, until we achieve our goal, to see an end to all measures for Covid-19 and with it the restoration of the freedoms of all Canadians,” he noted.

The Canadian prime minister said on Monday that Canadians were disgusted with the behavior of some protesters and promised that no one would intimidate him.

The inertia of police officers in Ottawa, some of whom Posaran in Seleves with protesters, contrasts with a more dynamic action by the authorities in Alberta province, in the western part of the country.

Arriving police officers were approached yesterday the truck guides that blued the American border, in Kots, but they retreated after conflicts with protesters.

The mobilizations also threaten the future of the opposition Conservative Party. Party leader Erin O’Toole is facing a vote of confidence today from lawmakers expressing their displeasure because he initially did not strongly support the protesters.
