Earlier today Lynne Hastings, the UN’s humanitarian coordinator for the occupied Palestinian territories, said a combination of technical, political and security issues were preventing aid from being delivered.
She noted that thorough negotiations are underway with Israel to ensure the passage of more humanitarian aid into the Israeli-besieged Palestinian enclave, after reporting that around 74 aid trucks had passed through it to date.
No deal has yet been reached to get fuel into Gaza, and the UN refugee agency says the lack of fuel is jeopardizing vital humanitarian operations there.
Officials are also trying to decide how to distribute this minimal aid.
“We know of 1,000 patients who need dialysis and over 100 children and babies who are in incubators, so we’re doing our best to try to prioritize where the need is greatest,” concluded Hastings.
