Demand for travel to Greece by British and European tourists is growing as the travel industry gradually begins to breathe with the end of severe pandemic restrictions.

Travel agents in London are talking about faster and faster coverage of travel packages to Greece in recent weeks, packages that were left unexploited for two years during the pandemic, while in an interview with SKAI from Dublin the head of the purely airborne arm prospect for even more arrivals in the country.

Its CEO Ryanair DAC Eddie Wilson initially said that the company will bring 6 million passengers to Greece this year.

“I think Greece has done a great job over the last two summers. When many countries were constantly changing policy, we must believe in the Greek government that it persuaded everyone else in Europe, through promotion and statistics and health measures, to give Greece the seal of approval that it was a safe place to visit. “It was a huge success,” he said.

Mr. Wilson reiterated his company’s firm request to reduce the cost of access to Greek airports, which he said would upgrade regional restrictions, extend the tourist season and double passengers.

“Everyone wants to go to Mykonos and Santorini and there is a congestion for that. Other islands should be highlighted or places like Volos should be open to tourism all year round. “So I think the next step for Greece, something that has been pointed out by the Greek government in a recent report for 2030, is that they have to make use of the period before and after the summer,” Mr Wilson said.

Noel Iosifidis, former president of the Association of Independent Tour Operators in Britain and director of the travel agency SUNVIL, which has been offering packages to Greece for decades, says after some time he is optimistic about the move in the near future England.

“When the British government said it would not have a test (for coronavirus) before returning to England, the market opened up and at the moment we are quite happy with the move. We as a company have a turnover of around .000 40,000 a day, which we are happy with. It is not like in 2019, the traffic will be around 40% down, but do not forget that we already have several reservations that were made from 2020 and 2021, which have been postponed for this year. “If we do not have another problem with Covid, our years must be good”.

Mr. Iosifidis He added that the feeling in Britain is that tourism is returning to better times.

“I think everyone believes that the tourist market has opened. At the moment, they do not even ask us what restrictions exist in Greece. And of course we have time until April and I think everyone expects that by the summer Covid will be seen as a severe cold “.
