US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said today that Russia will succeed in Ukraine if the United States does not continue to support Kiev.

I can guarantee that without our support (Russian President Vladimir) Putin will succeedAustin said during a Senate hearing on President Joe Biden’s request for $106 billion to be allocated to Ukraine, Israel and US border security.

“If we pull the rug from under their feet now, Putin will become more powerful and succeed in doing what he wants to do,” added Austin, sitting next to Foreign Secretary Anthony Blinken.

The head of US diplomacy today accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of trying to use the war between Israel and Hamas to to try to reduce Western support for Ukraine.

“Putin is really trying to take advantage of the Hamas attack on Israel in hopes that it will distract us (…) and get the United States to withdraw its resources” from Ukraine, the foreign minister told a committee of the Senate.
