The twelfth package of sanctions against Russia is expected to be announced by the Commission next week, as stated by the President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, speaking to the Ukrainian Parliament.

“The new sanctions will include up to 100 new faces, new import and export bans, actions to strengthen the oil price ceiling and tough measures on third-country companies that circumvent the sanctions,” stressed Ursula von der Leyen. He also pointed out that the pressure against Russia will continue.

The president of the Commission underlined that Ukraine is proceeding with “deep reforms”, while a “full-scale” war is underway.

“We will continue to provide all the technical and political support you need. I am convinced that you can achieve your ambitious goal: That is to make the historic decision to start the process of accession negotiations already this year,” he said. He finally emphasized that “the goal is really achievable”.
