Three armed drones were shot down today above Arbil Airport in the northern iraq, where US and other international forces are stationed, in two separate attacks, Iraqi Kurdistan’s counter-terrorism agency said in a statement.

It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the attacks, which are the latest in a series against US troops in Iraq and Syria, as tensions are rising in the Middle East because of Israel’s war with Hamas.

The defense system of a military base near the airport worked successfully against the drones, the statement said. There were no casualties or damage to infrastructure. announced the US Department of Defense.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani has vowed to prosecute those responsible for the recent attacks on three military bases in Iraq that host advisers to the international coalition. These are Ain al-Assad bases in western Iraq, a military base near Baghdad International Airport, and Harir in Arbil.
