The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, had a meeting with his German counterpart, Frank Walter Steinmeier, in Berlin.

During the meeting, Israel’s attacks on Gaza, bilateral relations between Turkey and Germany and issues of global interest were discussed, as stated in a statement by the Turkish presidency’s Communications Directorate.

In the announcement issued by the Turkish side, after the meeting of the two presidents, it is stated:

“During the meeting, President Erdogan stated that Israel’s attacks on the Palestinian Territories must stop and that the entire world’s reaction against human rights violations is important.

“President ErdoÄŸan stated that a ceasefire should be implemented immediately in the region and humanitarian aid should be promoted and that every day that the bloodshed does not stop is a loss for humanity.

“The two leaders jointly pointed out that the two-state solution is the only one for a lasting peace and agreed to work together to ensure a ceasefire in the region and deliver humanitarian aid to the region as soon as possible.”

The meeting was attended by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Trade Minister Omer Bolat, Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy chairman Zafer Sarikaya, Nationalist Action Party (MHP) deputy chairman Edip Semih Yalcin, the Turkish ambassador to Berlin Ahmet Basar Sen, the head of the Directorate of Communication of the presidency Fahrettin Altun and the diplomatic adviser of the president Akif Chagatai Kilic.

After the formal meeting with Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the meeting of the Turkish president with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz followed, for the essential political talks.
