“Cease fire now”, is the renewed appeal addressed by the head of the WHO for Gaza
In a shocking post, the head of the World Health Organization announced on Tuesday that one of the Organization’s workers was killed in Gaza together with her 6-month-old baby, her husband and two siblings.
“My colleagues and I are devastated,” Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on social networking platform X, where he posted a photo of the victim, who was named Dima Alhaj.
“It is said that many other members of the family who they had taken refuge in the same house were also killed“, he added, without giving further details about how the family died and who is responsible.
“Cease fire now”, is Ghebreyesus’ renewed appeal for Gaza.

The young colleague at the WHO Office for the West Bank and Gaza Dima Alhaj was tragically killed along with her 6-month-old baby, her husband and her 2 brothers.
Several other family members who had taken refuge in the same house were also reportedly killed.
I have no words to describe our grief.
This loss comes on top of other losses in the UN family since 7 October: 108 UNRWA colleagues have been killed.
This horror must end.
All humanitarians and civilians must be protected.

The Hamas government announced earlier today that 14,128 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli shelling of the Gaza Strip since the start of the war on October 7.
Among the recorded dead are 5,840 children and 3,920 women, the Hamas government said.
Furthermore, 33,000 people have been injured.
Besides, earlier it became known that the journalists – media workers who have been killed since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas, according to the latest count of the Committee for the Protection of Journalists it is 53.
According to the organization for the defense of the press, which lists the victims in Israel, the Gaza Strip and the Lebanese border, among the journalists who lost their lives, 46 were Palestinian, four were Israeli and three were Lebanese.
