In the focus of the Turkish president will be the acceleration of procedures for the removal of patients to Gaza
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he may travel to Egypt soon to discuss ways to speed up the evacuation of patients from Gaza and other measures, Haberturk and other Turkish media reported.
Speaking to reporters on the plane after returning from a trip to Algeria, Erdogan reportedly said the Islamic world must act in a spirit of unity and solidarity in Gaza.
“I might arrange a trip to Egypt as soon as possible,” he said. “We’re going to talk about what kind of steps can be taken and how we can pave the way for patient removal.” Many patients from Gaza have already been transferred to Turkey via Egypt.
Erdogan noted that the Islamic world must act in a spirit of unity and solidarity and be “a punch” for Gaza. “When this fist hits the table with all its force, it will not be possible for Israel to continue the occupation or oppression.”
Efforts must be made to secure a ceasefire, deliver sufficient aid to Gaza and rebuild the city, using economic, political and diplomatic means, he also stressed.
“We must force Israel to comply with international law and account for its actions,” he concluded.
