RMC Sport: “Maybe EPO didn’t put goal line technology for reasons of economy”

by

A lot of discussion has been raised in France the phase in the delays of the match with the Hellas, (and with the score at 2-2), when Kingsley Coman made a double brace. In particular, the French complain about the non-existence goal line technologyas they consider the ball to have crossed the line.

These complaints were also expressed by the team’s representatives immediately after the game, with the French press, specifically the RMC Sport to continue the issue, throwing the… ball at the EPO for not using the necessary line technology.

It is noted, of course, that its use goal line technology it is not mandatory in his qualifications Euro, unlike the final phase of the event. What the French believe, according to the publication, is that the EPO did not pay for the use of the technology in said game, despite having the necessary equipment, for reasons of economy.

What RMC Sport reports in detail:

“If the host association of a match in the qualifying phase has a certified goal line technology system at the stadium and wishes to use it for the match, it must obtain the agreement of the away team and approval from UEFA through the official approval process notified by UEFA.

Landlords then sign a contract directly with the approved technology supplier and bear all costs arising from this. The entire approval and signing process must be completed at least 30 days prior to the match date.

The non-use in the EURO qualifiers may have been due to a desire to save money on the part of the Greek Federation. This may have cost France a win, an outright winning streak and the top spot in the FIFA rankings.”
