The four members of K-pop girl group Blackpink were honored today with one of the highest honors in Britain, by himself king charles iiiin recognition of their commitment to the fight against global warming.

The four singers, Jennie Kim, Jisoo Kim, Lalisa ‘Lisa’ Manoban and Rosanne ‘Roche’ Park, were made Members of the Order of the British Empire by Charles during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

The ceremony was held in the presence of South Korean President Yun Suk-yeol and his wife Kim Keon-hee, who are on an official visit to London.

In a press release, the British palace explained that in this way it rewards the commitment of the four artists, during the COP26 Summit, which was held in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2021.

“The band encouraged millions of young people to take an interest in the United Nations Global Conference on Climate Change,” the palace notes.

In 2021, the members of Blackpink, who are “followed” by millions of people on social media, released a series of videos encouraging young people to become aware of climate change.

Prince Charles has been committed to the fight to save the environment for years and delivered the speech opening COP26 in Glasgow.

He will visit the United Arab Emirates next week, where COP28 will be held.
