The attacker who attacked with a knife and injured three primary school children and a 30-year-old worker at the Primary school in Dublin on Thursday afternoon, was arrested by the authorities.

He is a 40-year-old Irishman, not an Algerian as originally reported by local media.

In fact, as reported by the daily mail, he was disarmed by a Brazilian immigrant passerby using his helmet.

“I didn’t even think about it, it was pure instinct and it was all over in seconds. He fell to the ground,” Caio Benicio told TheJournal.ie.

“I have two children, so I had to do something. I did what anyone would do. People were there but they couldn’t intervene because he was armed, but I knew I could use my helmet as a weapon.”

Mr Benicio said he was now praying for the five-year-old girl he saw being attacked. He also told TheJournal.ie that he was saddened to see anti-immigrant rioters on the streets. “They seem to hate immigrants. Well, I’m an immigrant and I did everything I could to try and save this little girl.”
