33-year-old Gelienor “Jimmy” Leano Pacheco, a father of three from the Philippines, who was captured by Hamas is among the 24 people who were released and returned to Israel.

Pacheco lived in Nir Oz and cared for 80-year-old Amitai Ben Zvi.

The community of Nir Oz, home to about 400 people and located three kilometers from the Gaza border, lost almost half its population during the Hamas attack. More than 100 residents and about 15 foreign agricultural workers were killed during the attack and about 80 more were captured, according to a military spokesman.

That Saturday morning, Jimmy managed to call and tell his friends that he had been kidnapped and that 80-year-old Amitai had been killed. Hours later, Amitai’s family received a video from Jimmy’s family in the Philippines, showing Jimmy handcuffed to a car in Gaza.

Jimmy had been working in Israel for five years, taking care of Amitai for the last four years.
