The two-day extension of the truce between Israel and Hamas will not take effect until the hostages who are due to be released today Mondaypointed out Mark Regev, senior adviser to the Prime Minister of Israel.

Regev confirmed that a ceasefire extension had been reached and under the deal, Hamas would release 10 hostages each day.

“For every 10 hostages released, we are willing to give an extension of another day, and if Hamas releases Israeli hostages as agreed, we will extend the deal – that’s the bottom line,” Regev said.

He added that he believed the hostages to be released in the next two days would be women and children.

The senior adviser also congratulated US President Joe Biden for helping to hammer out the parameters of the deal.

“These negotiations were made with the help of President Biden, and we thank him for putting his efforts and his office behind these arrangements. I don’t think we would have reached the deal without his input.” he said.

It is recalled that Qatar has announced that an agreement has been reached to extend the humanitarian ceasefire for two days according to the BBC.

“The State of Qatar announces that, in the context of ongoing mediation, an agreement has been reached to extend the humanitarian ceasefire for two days in the Gaza Strip,” a Qatari post said. Both the White House and Hamas also confirmed the truce.
