Belgian and Moroccan police arrested at Morocco a suspect in a case of warnings for bomb which led to school closures in Belgiumthe country’s attorney general’s office reported today.

The Wallonia-Brussels education directorate closed yesterday, Monday, at least 27 schools in Brussels and the neighboring province of Brabant following a bomb warning on Sunday afternoon.

Belgian media reported that the sender of the warning had demanded 10 million euros in order to reveal the location of five bombs.

“The arrested person, who has Moroccan nationality, was questioned and admitted the acts to the Moroccan authorities. The initial conclusions of the investigation do not indicate terrorist motives,” the prosecutor’s office said in an emailed statement.

The prosecutor’s office in Brussels said it was continuing the investigation in cooperation with Moroccan authorities to discover the suspect’s motives.

Schools reopened today.
