Two Palestinian teenagers were killed in clashes with the Israeli army in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Authority’s Ministry of Health announced.

One, aged 14, was killed in Toubas, in the northern West Bank and the second, aged 17, near Ramallah where the Palestinian Authority is based.

Eyewitnesses told AFP that riots broke out in Tubas: youths threw stones at Israeli army vehicles and soldiers responded by opening fire. The Israeli military claimed it went to the area to arrest “two wanted suspects” but “armed men opened fire on security forces who responded with live bullets.”

Near Ramallah, Israeli soldiers entered a village to conduct searches, causing riots to break out there as well. Witnesses said the 17-year-old who was killed was shot four times.

On the night of Monday to Tuesday, another young Palestinian was killed by Israeli fire in Beituniya, a village located between the Israeli prison of Ofer and Ramallah. Since last Friday, every night, dozens of young people gather in Beitunia to welcome the Palestinians who are released daily in exchange for the hostages released by Hamas in Gaza. Each time, the Israeli army fires tear gas and opens fire, resulting in many injuries.

On Monday night, 26-year-old Yasin al-Asmar was killed in these incidents. The Israeli army says it entered Beitunia “to prevent rioting” and, as the soldiers approached, unidentified people threw Molotov cocktails at them, setting fire to rubbish in the street. “Our forces responded by opening fire,” he added.

Violent incidents are multiplying in the West Bank after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7. More than 230 Palestinians have been killed in the area by settlers and Israeli soldiers during this time, according to the Palestinian Authority’s health ministry.
