Thousands of young people were partying in the early hours of October 7 when armed Palestinians stormed the scene. The audience, which had then gathered to hear the five Israeli DJs on stage, this time consisted of silent and motionless placards with photographs of the dead.
“It’s strange to see all these people, all these pictures, they are pictures of people who actually died here,” said Yahel Ironi, 18, who survived the attack by hiding in a nearby shelter. “These people danced with me and did not survive.”
The organizers called this event that took place yesterday “The Set for the Angels”.
Asher Svisa, known as DJ Skazi, said the event caused mixed feelings. Sadness for all his lost friends and joy for once again offering music to rave party goers, whom he described as people of love, peace and music.
“I think each one of these people was celebrating life and they would have wanted us to celebrate for them, through music,” Swisha said.
According to police, 364 people were shot, beaten to death or set on fire at the Nova festival in an area near Kibbutz Reim. Another 40 were captured by Hamas and taken as hostages back to the Gaza Strip, 5km away, police said.
