Putin, in power since 1999 as either president or prime minister, has yet to announce whether he will run in the March 2024 presidential election to seek another six-year term
Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold his annual “reckoning of the year” press conference on December 14 and take questions directly from citizens for the first time since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, the Kremlin said today.
“On December 14, Putin will take stock of the year”Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out, clarifying that the press conference and citizens’ questions to the president will be broadcast by television networks.
Putin, who has been in power since 1999 either as president or as prime minister, he has not yet announced whether he will run in the March 2024 presidential election to seek another six-year term.
Six sources told Reuters earlier this month that the Russian president has decided to run again, as he believes he must lead the country through the most dangerous period it has faced in decades.
