THE Chile launched its national campaign today fourth dose vaccine against coronaviruswhich will be given, in the first phase, to citizens over the age of 55, at a time when the country is facing a new wave of infections.
In this Latin American country, which has one of the highest vaccination rates in the world, the immunocompromised, the health and the elderly in nursing homes receive the fourth dose from 10 January.
President Sebastian Pinera, 72, launched the campaign by taking a fourth tranche during his vacation in the south of the country.
“In order to protect ourselves, we followed a strategy from day one, which is to prevent, to take the lead so that the coronavirus does not reach us hexapine,” he told reporters.
Chile is launching this campaign at a time when the country is breaking day-to-day infection records. Today it recorded more than 31,000 new cases.
In Chile, 89.6% of the population aged 3 and over have received two doses or a single-dose vaccine and 73.9% have taken a third dose.
