Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the Russian strikes on Kherson in southern Ukraine, which killed two people, calling them “clear terrorist attacks”.

“There were more than 20 Russian attacks against Kherson province today alone,” Zelensky pointed out in his daily nightly address. “Brutal strikes all over the city – (against) houses, roads, hospitals,” he added.

At least two people were killed and seven others were wounded when Russian artillery struck an apartment building in Kherson yesterday, Ukrainian news agency Unian reported, citing the head of the provincial military administration, Roman Morsko.

The attack in the city center also targeted two hospitals, which suffered minor material damage.

According to the military command, Kherson has been the target of several Russian attacks in recent days. Since Saturday, the city, located on the banks of the Dnieper River, has been bombarded with nearly 400 shells.

Clashes are also reported in other areas of the front, Zelensky said. “Fierce fighting is raging in dozens of places along the front line,” he explained. “The most difficult areas are Mariinka, Avdiivka and Bakhmut,” the Ukrainian president noted, without giving further details.

The Ukrainian military announced Saturday night that most of the fighting with Russian troops is taking place in eastern Ukraine.

On the front line near Avdiivka, the Ukrainian army repelled 20 Russian attacks in 24 hours over the weekend. According to the army general staff report, the Russians have launched about 15 attacks around Bahmut.

However, in Kherson province Ukrainian forces are holding their positions on the southern bank of the Dnieper River.
