IDF denies New York Times report that Israeli military knew about plan for over a year in advance after intelligence briefings
The Israeli army denies knowledge of Hamas plans for the October 7 attack, as the New York Times had revealed in their report last week.
The report said the Israeli military had known about the plan for over a year in advance following intelligence briefings. However, Israel had dismissed it as an overly ambitious plan.
“It’s ridiculous to try to promote any conspiracy theory”Lt. Col. Jonathan Kornicus from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a live briefing held on the X platform. “I can categorically deny, of course, any intention for this to happen” he added.
He also admitted that “the IDF failed to offer what it was supposed to offer – namely protection and security – to the Israelis [εκείνη την ημέρα]».
The army will launch a “comprehensive” review of the case once it “defeats Hamas,” the lieutenant colonel added.
“The professional inquiry will look at everything in detail… We will get to the bottom of it to see what happened, how it happened and how it could have been prevented,” concluded.
