Her arrest of a 28-year-old man as suspect for knife attack against a 29-year-old pregnant woman in Aberfan, south Wales this morning, local police said shortly after 4.30pm.

The arrested person faces the charge of attempted murder.

The incident, which caused the immediate mobilization of armed police and led to a precautionary lockdown of two schools, is described by the town’s residents as an “intra-family incident”.

The arrest took place about two and a half kilometers from the scene of the attack.

The 29-year-old is hospitalized out of danger in Cardi hospital.
