Four people lost their lives from a fire that broke out last night in Tivoli Hospital, at a distance of fifty kilometers from Rome.

They were trapped in the flames four elderly patients, two men and two women, aged 76, 84, 85 and 86 years. The hospital was evacuated and many of the total of two hundred patients were temporarily moved to a closed gymnasium and the outpatient clinics. Many newborns were saved thanks to the immediate mobilization of the firefighters. They were first taken to ambulances and then to hospitals in Rome.

According to the information so far, the fire broke out in an area where special waste is transported, in the yard of the hospital. The public prosecutor’s office in Tivoli has launched an investigation aimed at attributing responsibility.
