In the arrest of a 36-year-old man proceeded the Swiss police, who had launched a manhunt to locate a “dangerous” man who killed two people and injured another early this morning in the city of Sion.

The alleged attacker was arrested in the Saint-Léonard area at 3:43 p.m. local time, Valais canton police said.

In the morning, around 8 o’clock, the gunman shot and killed a 34-year-old woman. According to the local newspaper Le Nouvelliste, he had harassed her several times in the recent past, seeking to have an affair with her. A preliminary investigation had been launched against him, following the complaint submitted by the woman.

The second victim was a 41-year-old man, the head of a local company for which the perpetrator worked. A 49-year-old secretary of the same company, who tried to raise the alarm, was injured by his gunfire.

Such attacks are rare in Switzerland and the police deployed strong forces to track down the perpetrator as soon as possible.
