Donald Trump maintains his dominant position in the Republican race for the party’s 2024 presidential nominee, with more than 60 percent of the party’s voters supporting him, according to an Ipsos poll for Reuters.

The first intra-party vote will be held in Iowa on January 15.

The poll shows that 61% of self-proclaimed Republican voters intend to vote for the tycoon in party-line polls by state, which will highlight Democratic President Joe Biden’s opponent in the November 2024 election.

The former president’s lead is 50 points: so the governor of Florida Ron DeSandisas well as the former governor of South Carolina and the country’s ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley are credited to 11% of the voting intentions of those who declared themselves GOP supporters.

Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy no more than 5%, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christy 2%, while the 8% of the sample declared undecided.

Republican supporters do not appear to be deterred by the series of state and federal legal challenges facing Mr. Trump. Besides, there are no signs of rallying in favor of any of the former president’s opponents.

Ms Haley has increased her share significantly since September, when an earlier Ipsos poll for Reuters suggested she was no more than 4% of voters. However, Mr. Trump’s gap with her and the rest of his rivals widened, as his own percentage then stood at 51%.

The poll was conducted online from December 5 to 11 among a sample of 1,689 people who declared themselves Republican supporters. The margin of statistical error is ±3 percentage points.
