Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will be in China starting tomorrow for a two-day working visit, Beijing and Moscow announced today.

China and Moscow share a common desire to counter what they see as American hegemony. The two neighboring countries have drawn closer politically and economically since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which Beijing has not condemned.

“Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin will visit China on December 19 and 20 at the invitation of (his Chinese counterpart) Li Qiang to attend the 28th regular meeting of the prime ministers of China and Russia,” Chinese diplomatic spokesman Wang Webin said.

In addition to meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Mishustin will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and the talks will focus mainly on the economy, as announced by the Russian government.

In May, Mishustin visited Shanghai and Beijing to sign a series of trade deals.
