The removal of parliamentary immunityof the former president of the Republic and prime minister and current leader of the opposition Sally Berisha the Albanian parliament decided today, paving the way for his arrest and prosecution for corruption.

This decision was accompanied by strong protests by opposition MPs who overturned seats, lit smoke bombs and shouted slogans!

Berisha himself called the decision a criminal and gross violation of the Constitution and called his followers to continuous demonstrations of disobedience to the state, until the overthrow of the Rama regime, as he calls the government of the socialists.

The lifting of immunity was requested by the anti-corruption prosecution (SPAK), which is investigating the possible involvement of Berisha, as prime minister, in cases of the purchase and sale of land in Tirana, for the benefit of his relatives.

The prosecution had imposed restrictive conditions on Berisha, in the form of his mandatory appearance at the police at regular intervals, which the former president and prime minister did not comply with.

So now he is faced with two possibilities: to be remanded in custody, which is difficult as he exceeds the age limit provided for by law, or to be put under house arrest.

It is noted that as a suspect of corruption, Berisha has been classified as undesirable both in the USA and Great Britain.
