A Duma member and ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin was found dead in a yard outside his home after allegedly falling from a third-floor window, adding to the list of elite Russian officials who have died under unclear circumstances in recent months.

Vladimir Egorova member of the Tobolsk City Duma from the ruling United Russia party, fell from the third-floor window of a house, Russian Telegram channel Baza reported.

At the same time, the Russian television station REN TV reported that Egorov is believed to have fallen from a third floor window.

There were no “external signs of a criminal act” on Egorov’s body, investigators told Kommersant. The committee “could not confirm the information about the circumstances of the deputy’s death” in Kommersanthe said, as “they are still conducting an autopsy.”

Meanwhile, Russian state media TASS reported Thursday that Egorov “was found dead in Tobolsk”, also citing the regional committee. And the unofficial Telegram channel Baza – which has links to Russian security services – reported that Egorov’s body “was found in the yard of his house on Kedrovaya Street” on Wednesday.

Kommersant and TASS reported that investigators are still investigating Egorov’s cause of deathwhile the Tobolsk City Duma posted an obituary on its social media page Thursday saying Egorov’s death was the result of an “accident.”

Egorov is included in a list of prominent Russians who died by suicide or from unexplained accidents in recent months and years, including several businessmen with ties to Russia’s two largest energy companies.

Last year, Egorov became one of the richest deputies of Tobolskwith his income amounting to 9.1 million rubles (about $100,500), according to Russian news agency RBC.

RBC also reported that from 2007 to 2014 Egorov headed the Land and Forestry Relations Committee in Tobolsk. In 2016 he was sentenced to community service for failing to collect rent from entrepreneurs for the lease of municipal land, but he denied the charges. After his removal from this position, he founded a recreation center and was elected to the State Duma.
