The Russian Defense Ministry has assured that the deadly attack in Belgorod will not go “unpunished” and blamed the Ukrainian army.

According to the count so far, at least 14 dead and 108 injured were recorded in Belgorod.

“This attack will not go unpunished,” the ministry said via Telegram, asserting that it had managed to intercept two rockets and “most” of the rockets fired at the city.

Kiev has not yet reacted to the Russian accusations.

Earlier the governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov had reported the death of two children from a Ukrainian strike in the regional capital.

The authorities did not specify whether these victims are included in the tally announced by the ministry or whether they are different strikes.

For his part, the governor of the Russian border region of Bryansk, Alexander Bogomaz, said that “a child born in 2014” was killed by a Ukrainian attack.
