“The diabolical criminals and enemies of the Iranian nation have once again wreaked havoc and martyred a large number of our fellow citizens.”
The Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned Thursday of a “tough response” to the twin blasts, described as a terrorist attack by officials and state media, that killed at least 103 people. The bloody explosions took place near the grave of General Qassem Soleimani, on the fourth anniversary of his death.
“The diabolical criminals and enemies of the Iranian nation have once again caused destruction and martyred a large number of our fellow citizens in Kerman,” said the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic. “There will be a harsh response to this disaster, God willing,” he said.
The Iranian president Ibrahim Raisi he also condemned the double bombing, denouncing a “cowardly” and “despicable” act.
“There is no doubt that the perpetrators of this cowardly act will soon be identified and punished for their heinous act by the relevant security and law enforcement forces,” the Iranian president said.
