Clark County District Judge Mary Kay Holthus fell down and hit the wall behind her. Fortunately he was not seriously injured.
A court employee was also injured trying to protect the judge and went to hospital with a bleeding head and a dislocated shoulder.
The attack happened around 11 a.m. at the Las Vegas Regional Justice Center.
“It happened so fast that I didn’t have time to react,” said the county attorney who prosecuted the defendant.
Defense attorney Caesar Almase did not respond to subsequent phone and email messages seeking comment.
