“The Russians hit the area with S-300 missiles, killing 11 people and injuring eight others. Eleven dead, among them five children — these are the current consequences of airstrikes in the Pokrovsk region. The main blow hit Pokrovsk and Rivne of the Mirnograd commune,” Filachkin said on the Telegram messaging app.
The governor released photos showing rescuers working around the wreckage. As he stated, the blow destroyed six houses.
The city of Pokrovsk, which had a population of 60,000 before the war, had already been hit by a particularly deadly bombing in August 2023, which killed nine people and injured 82 others.
Pokrovsk is located in Ukrainian-controlled territory, almost 50 km from the front and about 80 km northwest of Donetsk, the Russian-held center of the region.
