The accident took place yesterday evening at the railway station in Kaiserslautern, near Basel, in northwestern Switzerland, Aargau cantonal police said.
The 70-year-old woman was “very lucky in her misfortune” as she came to rest right in the middle between the two railway tracks, police said. The train that ran over her slightly injured her.
The pensioner is being treated, as is another person who was on the dock. He was slightly injured by pieces of the wheelchair that were thrown.
The accident resulted in train traffic being interrupted for hours at Kaiserslautern railway station.
At present, the police are ruling out the possibility that a third party may have been deliberately involved in the incident.
