At least four liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers were suspended over the weekend amid further escalation in the region after US and British forces launched dozens of airstrikes against Houthi forces.

Al Ghariya, Al Huwaila and Al Nuaman had loaded in Ras Laffan, Qatar, and were due to head for the Suez Canal, but stopped off the coast of Oman yesterday, Sunday, according to LSEG, an agency that monitors ship traffic. Al Rekayyat had stopped sailing in the Red Sea the previous day, January 13.

“It’s a break to get security advice, if the Red Sea crossing remains unsafe, we’ll go via the Cape,” said a source with direct knowledge of the matter, referring to the Cape of Good Hope.

“Production does not stop,” the source emphasized.

So far there is no confirmation of the information and no comment from the International Media Office of the government of Qatar or from QatarEnergy.
