“Hizb ut Tahrir is an anti-Semitic organization that actively promotes and encourages terrorism,” said Home Secretary James Cleverley.
THE Britain banned the global Islamist organization Hizb ut Tahrir (Hizb ut–Tahrir)characterizing her terrorist organisationsubject to parliamentary agreement, Home Secretary James Cleverley said today.
“Hizb ut Tahrir is an anti-Semitic organization that actively promotes and encourages terrorism, praising and celebrating among other things the horrific attacks of October 7,” he said in statements related to the attacks by the Palestinian organization Hamas in Israel.
Lebanon-based Hizb ut Tahrir is active in 32 countries, including Britain, the interior ministry said.
The praise of the attacks carried out by the organization as well as the characterization of its fighters Hamas as heroes on its website, constitute the promotion and encouragement of terrorism, Cleverly added.
Those who break the rules may be faced with prison terms up to 14 years.
Cleverley has the power to ban an organization under British law if it is deemed to be “linked to terrorism and acting accordingly,” according to the government’s website.
