Russian missiles hit Chuhuiv, a community near Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv, on Wednesday, killing one person and damaging a training building, the regional governor and the armed forces said.

The regional governor Oleh Sinekhubov clarified via Telegram that there were two strikes in Chuhuiv, southeast of Kharkiv.

A worker at a thermal and electricity production facility was killed and another person was injured, he added.

According to the military command of Kharkiv, the strikes were carried out with modified S-300 system (aircraft defense) missiles.

The day before Tuesday, two Russian missiles hit a district of Kharkiv, injuring 17 people, according to the Ukrainian authorities.

The city is often the target of Russian attacks. Last week, a hotel in the metropolis was struck, injuring 11 people, according to authorities.

The Russian Ministry of Defense consistently assures that the Russian bombings on Ukrainian territory are carried out exclusively against military targets.

According to Mr. Sinekhubov, a woman was killed in a Russian shelling of a village near Kupyansk, further east, the epicenter of fighting in the same region. Two children were injured, he added.

In Kherson (south), authorities reported that a man was killed in his car in Russian shelling of the regional capital of the same name.

On the other hand, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that in Kharkiv its forces carried out a “precision” strike against a building where “foreign fighters”, mostly French, were stationed, as a result of which around 60 of them were killed. He presented no evidence for this claim.
