Iran’s Foreign Ministry Summons Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires to Protest Missile Attack – Islamabad’s Reaction
Anger reigns in Tehran over Pakistan’s attack in southeastern Iran. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman condemned Pakistan’s attack on a border point in southeastern Iran. Iran’s foreign ministry summoned Pakistan’s envoy on Thursday to protest about the missile attack, Nasser Kanani said on Thursday.
The missile attack by Pakistan caused the death a total of nine people, three women and four children, as well as two men who did not have Iranian citizenship.
The attack which occurred at 04:05 local time (0335 GMT) targeted a village on the border with Iran, Ali Reza Marhamati, deputy governor general of Sistan-Baluchestan province in southeastern Iran, told IRNA. Another explosion that occurred fortunately caused no casualties.
However, after the attack, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan issued a statement in which it reiterated that the country fully respects territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic.
In the statement read by the spokesman of the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, Pakistan called Iran “brother country”and said he continues to try to find a common solution to the issue.
It is noted that on Monday, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards launched drone and missile attacks against Jaish al-Adl (Justice Army) positions in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, in response to the Islamist group’s December 15 armed attack on a police station in neighboring Rask city of Sistan-Baluchestan, resulting in the deaths of 11 policemen and two of the attackers.
