Four people have been found alive, while two others are missing today after one crashed Russian Falcon aircraft in a mountainous zone in the northeast AfghanistanRussia’s Federal Civil Aviation Service Rossaviatsia announced.
“Local search and rescue authorities located the Falcon 10 aircraft on the ground,” Rossaviatsia first said in its latest press release.
“Of the six people on board, we estimate that four are alive (they have suffered various kinds of injuries) and the fate of two other people remains to be clarified,” continued the Rossaviatsia.
Afghan authorities also confirmed this account for their part.
“The captain has been located,” said a press release from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Transport and Aviation in a message on X (formerly Twitter).
“According to the pilot, four passengers, including himself, are alive. The search team (…) is looking for” the rest of the passengers, he continues.
According to Rossaviatsia, a Russian-registered Falcon 10 aircraft built in 1978 by the French group Dassault Aviation “lost communication and disappeared from radar screens” on Saturday night while flying over Afghanistan.
The twin-engine aircraft is “owned by Athletic Group LLC and a private individual,” according to this source.
At the time of the accident, “the aircraft was performing a chartered medical flight between Gaya (India) – Tashkent (Uzbekistan) – Zhukovsky (Russia),” Rossaviatsia said.
As reported by the Russian agency Ria Novosti, the aircraft was on a private flight carrying a “seriously bedridden patient” and her husband who paid for the flight. Those two passengers were Russian nationals, according to this source.
Russia’s Investigative Committee announced that it has launched an investigation into the incident.
