Negotiations are reportedly underway to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza war, according to a statement from Qatar, as published by the Times of Israel.

In particular, his press representative Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar announced that “Mediation efforts to end the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip continue”without however revealing more details.

Israel has reportedly made a proposal through Qatar and Egyptunder which he will agree to a ceasefire of up to two months in exchange for the gradual release of the remaining 136 hostages in Gaza.

Although the proposal does not accept Hamas’ demands for an end to the warhowever, it appears to be the first time Israel has referred to a two-month truce since the others counted days, according to the US news website Axios, which cited two Israeli officials.

The proposal does not entail an end to the war, it will be a second truce, like the week-long one that allowed the release of more than a hundred hostages, in exchange for the release of 240 Palestinian prisoners.

Israel’s proposal provides for the return hostages to life and corpses in phasesthe first of which will cover women and men age 60 and older, according to the Axios report.

This will be followed by women serving in the military, men under the age of 60 who do not belong to the ranks of the armed forcesthen the male Israeli soldiers and, in the final phase, the corpses.

Under the plan, Israel and Hamas would agree in advance on the number of Palestinian prisoners which will be released for each hostage by category and then for their names, always according to the website.

During his meeting yesterday with hostage family members, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu referred to an Israeli “initiative”adding however that he is unable to “disclose details” about heraccording to the press.
