The Houthi Al-Masira TV network reported today that the US and the UK launched two airstrikes targeting the port of Ras Isa in Yemen’s Hodeidah province.

The airstrikes came as Yemen’s Houthi rebels have escalated attacks on vessels plying the Red Sea, including an attack that set a tanker on fire yesterday.

Yesterday, Friday, a missile launched by Yemen’s Houthis hit the oil tanker Marlin Luanda under the flag of the Marshall Islands, as announced by the US Central Command or CENTCOM.

“On January 26 at 7:45 p.m. (Yemeni time, 6:45 p.m. Greek time), Iran-backed Houthi terrorists fired an anti-ship ballistic missile from an area they control in Yemen and hit the Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker M/V Marlin Luanda. The cruiser USS Carney (DDG 64) and other allied ships responded and are providing assistance. No injuries have been reported so far,” the CENTCOM statement said.

Eight hours later, US forces destroyed an anti-ship missile the Houthis were preparing to launch into the Red Sea, according to a new update.
